So you get an email that says:
--- Comment #1 from Thomas Lübking <thomas luebking web de> 2010-11-13 15:17:07 ---
sorry for the delay ;-)
please check whether this is the issue described in bugs 178269, 183263, 241094
& 243094
Then you remember you reported a bug some weeks ago about some problems in repainting windows and opening/switching tabs
in your kde enviroment. You knew the problem was kwin because you tried different window managers and everything worked much
better. Well, you follow the suggestion and check if your report has anything to do with those bugs. It has! (you didn't do very well
checking for existing bugs before reporting a new one :S).
Anyway, you decide to help a bit and try the patches Kwin developers coded which are located in:
http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=1175748
Not very long patches indeed! Really worth it though. After getting the proper kdebase-workspace PKGBUILDs (what Archlinux uses to
build packages) you modify them to allow you to apply the patches. After some time and dinner (my laptop is getting old, ya know) the
package is ready to give it a try...
*WOOOOOW* This is difference! those two lines of code were really necessary! No drawbacks, no bugs added. Can't leave without it now.
I'm no longer using my distro packages as they do not include this patches yet although KDE SC 4.6 beta is due in a few hours and the packages
will probably hit the [kde-unstable] in no time ;)
I do love opensource :)
